Entering its eighth season, the San Diego Surge (0-0) will open its 2019 campaign in the newly formed Women’s National Football Conference, when they host the San Diego Rebellion (0-0) this Saturday at Santana High School.

The Surge returns to the gridiron coming off a 5-2 season that ended with a 16-6 triumph over the Seattle Majestics, securing a third place finish in the “Best of the West” Women’s Football Championship in Las Vegas.

Coach Suggett Begins 7th Season

As the Surge head coach for every season excluding 2014, Mike Suggett compiled a 53-11 record (.828) and have led the team to its only national championship victory in 2012.

Scouting the San Diego Rebellion

While this will be the first-ever meeting between these teams, there will be plenty of familiarity. Founded by former Surge players, the Rebellion enters their second season of play looking to build off a 7-3 record in their inaugural run, which included a playoff berth. Their roster currently features six returning All-American selections and seven players who spent at least a season with the Surge during their football careers.

Fight For San Diego!

This will be the second game in team history against an opponent located in the San Diego County area. The first such meeting took place in 2013, when the visiting Surge defeated the San Diego Sting 49-0 in Escondido.
